I love...LAMP!

(Couldn't resist the bad Anchor Man reference!)

Anyways, I've been pining after this gorgeous West Elm Industrial Table Lamp for forever and a day.  Thanks to some Christmas money, I was finally able to snag it (with the help of a 20% off coupon!)

Also notice the new filing cabinet.  A good chunk of my snowy Sunday was spent organizing this puppy.  That is of course, after my boyfriend willingly put the wheels on for me! For a while I'd considered wanting to paint a filing cabinet to look like this, but I think I'm happy to let the lamp steal the show.

Here she is up close.  Isn't it just such a happy color?! I like the "pop" it brings to the space.  (That space being the back side of the man cave, to provide you with some orientation.)

What fun colors have you added to your small spaces recently?

Friday Finds

Happy New Year to you! We spent the evening at a small party with our friends complete with merriment and dancing.   I hope you rung in the new year with lovely company too!

The mister is simultaneously battling a cold and getting ready for training. I started back to work Thursday and I admit while I loved the relaxation of break, I can't wait to see my kids on Monday.

Over my Christmas break, I spent a lot of time scouring Pinterest, online catalogs, and other websites looking at home furnishings.  Apparently I'm really digging mid-century mod, which is great since our house was built during that era.

Here are some things that are on my radar for some spring spiffing

Everything is so bright and cheerful! It's exactly how I'm feeling these days...hopeful for a wonderful 2013.

Tar-jay Fun Finds: NB

While my nearest and dearests were working on the drywall the other day, I was masquerading around Tar-jay killing time (and staying out of the way.)  With so much going on at the house, I'd forgotten that Nate Berkus' new home collection had finally made an appearance!

So I picked up a few trinkets.  By no means will they necessarily stay where they are.  Mostly I was looking for a place where they would escape (the majority of) the dust.

I'm not sure what it was about this spiky thing, but I loved it.  He sorta reminds me of a sea urchin.

The bee-hive bowl was the first thing that drew me in.  I thought it would make a nice landing for things like keys or loose change.  It could possibly find itself relocating to one of the bathrooms for a place to keep rings and jewelry.

Finally, I loved the pattern on this pillow.  Yes, I probably could have made it myself for much cheaper, but it's such a pain in the butt to find an exact pattern once you see one that you like.  I'm thinking that this will make it's way into the new family room, once all the dust settles (literally!)

Fab Finds

The front entry has a new edition: a giant oil-rubbed bronze lantern!

Here it is full size.  It's pretty huge.  I can't wait to dress it up for fall and Christmas.

I might move it to this little corner if I can find a cool stand for it.

Jozie wanted to make sure everything was okay outside.  Then she smiled to have her picture taken.

Around the World...

Picked up this beauty at my favorite thrift store early last week.  For $12, it's an awfully nice addition to the man cave.  (Especially after I found other vintage globes for $30+ at another local antique shop.)

Globes remind me of flying, and that of course, makes my husband happy.

Fab finds

Last weekend I went to a great antique/resale shop in my hometown. It's a neat little shop on main street and I almost always find cool treasures. Here's the stuff that is now taking up residency at 912 ELM Tree.

This little guy had me from hello.  I spotted it on the sidewalk as I was walking up and I literally ran to snatch it before anyone else could.  (Oops, still need to take the tag off!)  Everything from the color to the pedestal-goodness makes me swoon.  I keep hanging out on the porch and walking by the window just to gaze at it.

Here's the view from the top.  It has such a cute shape!  (And as you can probably tell from the pictures, something is missing from the porch! More on that later.)

This picture is a little blurry, but I also happened across some postcard-sized, framed art of notable/historic businesses from our hometown.  I thought these could look super cool as part of a gallery wall in the man cave.

The frames were regular 'ole wood and as you can tell I've already dolled them up a bit.  With the walls being a neutral creamy gray, the blues and greens really pop.

Have you found any treasures lately?
