Happy 93

Today is my grandma's 93rd birthday.  93, wow.  What a lifetime.

I can honestly say I've never met anyone like her.  She is the kindest, most genuine woman you will ever meet.  You would be hard-pressed to find a grandchild that she did not have a hand in raising, after raising 5 children of her own.  She kept my brother and I twice a week from the time I was 2 or 3 until I was close to 13.

Other than in recent years of declining health, I cannot recall a time when she complained or coveted anything.  I certainly have never heard her say anything bad about anyone.

She makes the best of all situations and worries about everyone but herself.  Even now while she is on oxygen and frequently in pain, she calls frequently to ask how I'm doing with my ulcer.  She is also fiercely independent, still living in her house alone since 1990 when my grandpa passed.  Ironically she never learned to drive, so up until 5-8 years ago, she walked to Walmart and Schnuck's for everything she needed or took the bus.

She loves nothing more than to friend a new baby at church and I've never seen a baby or small child that can resist my gran.  I hope that she will be around to meet my children, someday.

Happy birthday Gran! We love you!

Big 53

Happy 53rd birthday to the best dad ever!  I celebrated with my parents over the weekend. Look at that massive and delicious cake.

Poor hubster was home sick with the flu all weekend.  I think all of the stress from his tests and dad wreaked havoc on his immune system.

Also thanks everyone for the prayers for my father-in-law.  He ended up needing a quadruple rather than triple bypass, but he's kicking butt and taking names in his recovery.  Can you believe he's home already?! Modern medicine is a beautiful thing.  Now let's hope that he can stay strong to kick his smoking habit.

Prayers Needed

Prayers needed for my father-in-law.  He had a heart attack this morning and is in need of triple bypass surgery.  *Think happy thoughts!*

Friday Finds

Happy New Year to you! We spent the evening at a small party with our friends complete with merriment and dancing.   I hope you rung in the new year with lovely company too!

The mister is simultaneously battling a cold and getting ready for training. I started back to work Thursday and I admit while I loved the relaxation of break, I can't wait to see my kids on Monday.

Over my Christmas break, I spent a lot of time scouring Pinterest, online catalogs, and other websites looking at home furnishings.  Apparently I'm really digging mid-century mod, which is great since our house was built during that era.

Here are some things that are on my radar for some spring spiffing
