Scottsdale

*Note* This post isn't really new.  I'm just now figuring some things out on Blogger for using the pages.  Feel free to read again though!

We recently got back from a spring break trip to Scottsdale, AZ to meet up with Eric's sister, Jodie. We had a blast! We left during the wee hours of the morning on Saturday and two-legged it to Denver, then from Denver to Phoenix. After checking into our condo and a short nap, we met up with Jodie for some dinner. We went to a place called the Yardhouse. It was a low-key bar with great food. I'd highly recommend it.

This makes me want to bust out a high-pitched rendition of "so happy to-ge-therrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr." Ha ha.

On Sunday it actually rained, go figure, so we ended up doing some shopping and site seeing. The temperature also dropped into the high 50's, staying there for the rest of our trip. It was actually warmer at home than it was in Scottsdale!

See the rain clouds in the background?? This is the view from our front balcony. We actually saw people in parkas because they couldn't take the 50 degree weather! At lunch we sat outside and people couldn't believe it.

Monday night Jodie gave me a Brazillian blowout (Brazillian blowout=fancy hair treatment.) This basically means buh-bye frizz for the next 3 months (happy dance!)

Monday was much prettier. The whole time we were so in awe of the beautiful scenery, which is so different than ours at home.

Monday=more shopping while Jodie went to a class for her business. Poor Eric. He did have fun finding an airplane desk at Restoration Hardware though. There's every store you could practically imagine in Scottsdale!

No, I did not really touch the cactus. I'm just being silly.

Monday evening we hiked Echo Canyon. I've never hiked on a mountain before. I also consider myself to be in pretty good shape physically. Not anymore. Whoa buddy that was an adventure!

This was the beginning.

Here I'm starting to look winded. Notice how chipper Jodie looks. She practically bounded up the dang mountain!

There were actually people running up this bad boy. We even saw one dude jogging up it SANS SHOES. He must have been hardcore. Or part monkey.

And here we are pretty close to the top. To say the views were gorgeous just doesn't do them justice. Phenomenal. Outstanding. Breathtaking. (You get the idea.)

The way down was not so much fun. I'll leave it at that.

We were sad to have to leave on Tuesday, also at the butt-crack of dawn. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 4:45 a.m. but was delayed due to storms in Houston. We ended up having to go through Houston to Newark and then finally home. Three time zones for those of you counting!

All in all the trip was very relaxing and much needed. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go stretch. I'm still sore from that hike!
